Favourite Pantycelyn hymn
Pantycelyn Vote Winner
The hymn voted most popular in the Pantycelyn Event 2008 is the classic Mi dafla 'maich oddi ar fy nghwar (I will throw my burden from my back).
It was sung on Dechrau Canu Dechrau Canmol on Sunday 9 March to the hymn-tune Tŷ Ddewi. According to John Morris Jones, it is one of the most perfect lyrics we have as a nation. It speaks of the guilt of the Passion and the incomparable Jesus, with the leitmotif, "there is none like him". Professor Derec Llwyd Morgan adds, it also contains the awe-inspiring, immortal words, "he will drain and cleanse my soul".
