Porthpenwaig

Welcome to a seaside villlage full of drama and emotion

A love triangle, a successful family business in a tight-knit rural community full of colourful characters, echoes of the past, and Llŷn's spectacular scenery forming the backdrop to it all - welcome to Porthpenwaig village.

We will follow the lives of the family who own Yr Angor hotel and the characters of the seaside village. The series was filmed on location in Aberdaron and the surrounding area.

The family at Yr Angor - Ynyr ap Hedd, his wife Heulwen, their daughter Heledd and especially the family's son, Huw Ynyr - will all become familiar to us in the drama which has been created, written, and co-scripted by the author, theatre director and choir conductor of Last Choir Standing fame, Cefin Roberts.

Love triangle

The drama's main focus is a love triangle between Huw (Tudur Evans) and the two girls in his life. They are Gwenan Lloyd (Nerys Lewis), his schooldays' sweetheart, and Casi Mainwaring (Elin Llwyd) from Cardiff - his 'university girlfriend', with whom he had a long-term affair during his time at Bangor University.

Beyond the triangle, there's a tightly-knit community of fascinating characters, including Yr Angor's staff, such as barmaid Manon, Muriel 'Bob Dim' (Muriel Everything) from the local shop, Largo, the rough-and-ready local fisherman and his prickly wife Ann, Dewi Aeron, the church's young vicar, and Gwenan's mother, Edna, whose life is overshadowed by a tragic family loss.

The series has attracted a strong cast comprising of new faces and established experienced actors. Morfudd Hughes, John Ogwen, Iola Gregory, Lowri Mererid, Olwen Rees, Delyth Eirwyn and Huw Davies will be among the cast joining the three principal actors.
