680g/1½lb of wholmeal flour
115g/4 oz of bran
55g/2 oz of brown sugar
5g/¼ oz of baking soda
1 ltr/1 pint 15¼ fl oz of buttermilk

METHOD

Sieve the ingredients into a bowl and add the buttermilk. Mix well. Knead the dough on a flour covered surface. Cut the dough into shape and place in an appropriate tin that's been greased well. Place in the oven at 180ºC/356ºF/Gas Mark 4 for 25-30 minutes.
