½ lb/8 oz of self raising flour
2½/70g oz of Welsh butter
4 oz/115g of mixed fruit
1 tablespoon of black treacle
2 tablespoon of sugar
a little mixed spice
buttermilk

METHOD

Using your fingers, rub the butter into the flour then add the rest of the dry ingredients. Moisten the mix with the milk and treacle ensuring that it doesn't get too wet.
Grease an enamel plate and out the mix on it. Place in a moderate hot oven for around an hour to brown.
