METHOD
You can make one large tart or a number of individual tarts (use a flan dish). To make the individual tarts, place 6-8 cherries in each bowl and cover with a good measure of liquor. Add the vanilla essence to the milk. Put the flour, sugar, eggs and milk into a food processor and mix the ingredients together until a batter texture is formed (or use a whisk). Pour the mixture over the cherries and bake in a hot oven - 200°C for 20 minutes. Serve hot or cold.
