During the 60’s and 70’s, Ryan and Ronnie were the Morecambe & Wise of Wales. The film follows one important day when the relantionship between Ryan and Ronnie was breaking. The film was written by Meic Povey.
Aled Pugh acts the part of Ryan Davies. Aled comes from Tŷ-croes originally. He was Ryan in the drama ‘The Life of Ryan and Ronnie’ in the theatre. Aled has also acted in ‘Y Pris’, ‘Caerdydd’, and the film ‘Ar y Tracs’.
Rhys ap Hywel acts the part of Ronnie Williams. Rhys lives in Nantgaredig, Carmarthenshire. He played the part of Llŷr in the drama ‘Teulu’ and he acted the part of Jason in ‘Pobol y Cwm’.
The film tells the story of the two’s performance in the ‘Double Diamond Club’ in Caerphilly. A lot of the act in the club was in English.
The two are practising their lines backstage. They’re both good friends with Glenys, the girl who does the costumes.
There is a lot of pressure on Ronnie and he has an alcohol problem. The doctor has told him to stop performing. Ryan is not happy, but they carry on with the show.
We see a part of the two’s performance on the stage and they sing ‘Did you Ever See?’, ‘Blodwen and Mary’, and ‘Ti a Dy Ddoniau’ (you and your talents). We aslo see some of the characters that Ryan played, people like Phyllis Dorris.
Ryan has health problems. He suffers from asthma, but he carries on with the show.
Ryan moves to America. But both stay friends and talk over the phone. They miss each other.
Ryan died in America in 1977. Ronnie went on working, but died in Wales in 1997.
