‘Cwis Meddiant’ (The Possession Quiz) is a general knowledge quiz that follows the format of a rugby game. 16 teams from all over Wales are taking part in the first round.
The presenter is Gethin Jones, best known for his work on Blue Peter and Strictly Come Dancing.
Each week two teams of three players face each other. Tonight, two teams from the south – Clwb Rygbi Waunarlwydd against Clwb Rygbi Llanymddyfri.
Clwb Rygbi Waunarlwydd is from Swansea. Their team is Keith, Brian and their captain, Steffan.
Clwb Rygbi Llanymddyfri is from Carmarthenshire. Their team is Rhys, Celfyn and captain, Gareth.
There are five categories of questions – The World About Us, Who and Where, Entertainment, Wales, and Sport.
The aim is to answer questions and score points by crossing the llinell gais (try line). All three team members must be in their opponents’ half to score.
Players can either rhedeg (run) with the ball and answer the question themselves or pasio (pass) to a team member.
Players also have three tacteg (tactics) that they can use once in each half – tacl (a tackle) to win possession, ryc (ruck) to discuss tactics and a gôl adlam (drop goal).
