Carmarthen, September 1997. The morning of the result of the Referendum and it’s very close. There’s one result to come – from Carmarthen. Carmarthen says YES, so Wales says YES.
On the way to Carmarthen. Awen and Mari are coming in a car from Pen Talar and Doug is coming from Cardiff. Suddenly, there’s an accident.
At the hospital. The doctor is talking about serious injuries to the head.
Cardiff. Judith comes to see Doug. “Dw i ddim yn berson drwg... jyst dipyn bach ar goll.” (I’m not a bad person…just a little bit lost.) Will the bottle help Doug to forget?
Pen Talar. Berian has come to see Siân to talk about Defi and the Assembly. To Berian, Defi is the strongest candidate. But to Defi, there’s a better candidate.
Pen Talar. Defi blames himself for the accident. “Fy mai i ydy e. A wna i byth faddau i fi fy hun.” (It’s my fault. And I’ll never forgive myself.)
Pen Talar. Doug has come to Pen Talar to help the family and to be with Defi and Siân. But does Siân want Doug in her life?
At the hospital. The doctor talks to Defi and the family about saving a life. What will Defi do?
Carmarthen. Defi had helped Irfona and Iolo to forgive Steffan. Now Irfona wants to help Defi. “Paid byth bod ofn cofio.” (Never be afraid to remember.)
Pen Talar. It’s time for Doug and Defi to face the truth. But are they ready to listen to the truth?
October 1998. Ron Davies has resigned as the Secretary of State for Wales. Who’s going to stand for the Assembly? – Defi or Siân?
May 1999. The day the National Assembly for Wales is opened in Cardiff. For Defi, it’s a new beginning; it’s an opportunity to create something new, to create a new Wales.
