Waldo was born in School House, Prendergast, Haverfordwest in 1904. His father was the schoolmaster there. The family moved when Waldo was 7 years old to Mynachlog-ddu and this is where Waldo learnt to speak Welsh. Yet again they moved to Llandisilio. Here his sister Morfydd died when she was only 12 years old and this is where Linda Llewelyn would come during the holidays. Years later, Linda became Waldo's wife, but sadly died only a year after they were married.
As a Quaker and therefore a pacifist he was imprisoned for his stand against the war in Korea. He refused to pay income tax and his protest lasted until 1963.
Waldo was inspired by Pembrokeshire and its people. His main theme was that we are all part of one large family and it is our duty to work together and respect each other.
