O Gymru Fach

Steffan Rhodri follows Welsh exports around the world

The series O Gymru Fach (From Little Wales) shows that the spirit of the entrepreneur is very much alive and kicking in our country.

In the new five-part series actor Steffan Rhodri follows the trail of 15 companies as their goods are exported worldwide.

The man most famous for his portrayal of Dave 'Coaches' in the drama series Gavin & Stacey witnesses the success of Welsh products in Hong Kong, Dubai, USA, Europe and the rest of the UK.

The cameras went to three continents to follow companies as varied as Halen Môn, Corgi Hosiery & Knitwear and Ifor Williams Trailers and products as different as a horse weighing machine and mussels.

"It was an eye-opener to discover so many Welsh companies export goods all over the world. In a time of economic hardship, it is incredible that so many Welsh companies succeed in an international market," says the actor.

"The worldwide web has opened up so many possibilities for companies like the ones featured in the series. But what is common to most of them is that foreign clients believe they are buying products of quality." adds Steffan.

Hong Kong

The series starts in Hong Kong where Steffan follows the trail of three products made in the 'Land of the Red Dragon', warmly welcomed in the 'Land of the Dragon'.

He will taste Welsh organic lamb in a city restaurant - lamb which started life on the gentle hills of Edryd Davies' farm in Llanwrin near Machynlleth, Powys.

He follows Dr Ieuan Nicholas as he looks for buyers in salons, spas and shops for his organic Wellbeing Skincare products made in Llanpumsaint, Carmarthenshire.

He also meets John Jones of Caernarfon-based company PMM who sells pollution measuring and energy saving equipment to businesses and shops in Hong Kong.
