The remarkable story of a brave Welsh woman who has had four transplants is the fascinating subject of the first programme in the award-winning S4C documentary series, Wynebau Newydd (New Faces).
Allison John of Fishguard has had more transplants than any other woman in the UK, having had liver, heart, lung and kidney transplants.
The programme follows Allison over a period of 12 months as she energetically campaigns to change the law on transplants so that organs are donated automatically upon death rather than people having to register and provide permission beforehand. She faces a huge battle, but Allison has been a fighter all her life.
"I became an ambassador for the Kidney Wales Foundation because I thought that being the voice for all those people who've had transplants was the natural role for me," explains Allison.
Allison is the first transplant patient now studying Medicine at college. The fact that she's a full-time student and such an effective ambassador means that she has become an inspirational role model for others.
"I've so much energy and strength now, that I am forever wanting to do things and enjoy life, says Allison. "All I want is to lead a normal life."
