Dairy farmer Malcolm Davies, 37, from Nyffryn, Dinas, near Pwllheli likes to set himself a challenge from time to time. In the past he has taken part in the local triathlon in Pwllheli, as well as the London and New York Marathons.

Now satisfied with his running abilities, he's decided that Fferm Ffactor will be his challenge for 2011.

Malcolm lives with his wife Carys and their three year old son Iori on the farm on the Llyn Peninsula. He runs the farming business in partnership with his two brothers and the enterprising trio are aiming to increase their dairy herd from 200 to 300 in the next year.

Whilst Malcolm enjoys his work, he believes it's important not to be too tied to the farm.

"I'm committed to my work," he says, "but but I do think that it is important to have a life outside farming."

As the only representative from the Llyn peninsula, Malcolm is hoping to get all the support he can get to make sure he makes it to the final ten.

"Everyone knows that the best farmers are on Llyn - I just hope I can stick around long enough to bring the title to where it should rightly be," he added.
