Mother of three, Marian was brought up on a hill farm in Cwm Cynllwyd near Llanuwchllyn. Farming was all she ever wanted to do, and after leaving school she studied Agriculture at Glynllifon College, followed by a year and a half milking a dairy herd of 160 cows on a farm near Wrexham.

She met husband Iestyn, one of her rivals in this year's Fferm Ffactor, in a YFC dance and the couple later moved in together. They now farm at Y Goppa on the shores of Trawsfynydd lake, and have three children, Seimon, 15, Catrin, 14, and three-year-old Daniel.

Marian looks after the day to day running of the farm which includes a herd of suckler cows and a flock of Welsh Mountain sheep, and will often be seen shepherding on horseback.

"I've always enjoyed horseriding, but these days I combine my hobby with work and prefer the horse to the quad bike," she says.

Marian hopes that during the competition, she and Iestyn will be able to support and encourage each other.

"If we can help each other we will, but if we both make it to the end, we'll probably have to leave loyalty at home," she added.
