On a scale of 1-10, how green do you think you are?

2, unfortunately

What's your greenest habit?

Recycling everything – as a family of four, we only put out half a bag of rubbish every fortnight.

Do you know what your carbon footprint is and does it worry you?

I don't know, but it's appalling because of all the travelling I do with my work. I fly all over the world and travel all around Wales in the car – I clock up about 30,000 miles a year. I'd like to use public transport more often, but it's not usually convenient. It worries me terribly.

How much do you recycle?

Everything we can, but Powys [Council] doesn’t collect recycling, so I have to drive to the recycling centre – which in turn is not very green. Councils need to organise these things better.

How much do you re-use?

Loads! Clothes are handed down from the oldest to the yougest son, and we're not that bothered about getting everything brand new.

What kind of lightbulbs do you have at home?

Mostly energy-saving ones, but I find they're slow to light up and not as bright as the older kind. If we can put a man on the moon, surely someone can make a better job of these!

Do you compost?

Yes – I'm in the middle of sorting out the garden, and there's a mountain of compost ready to go on it!

What was the last green thing you did?

Went to the recycling centre.

Do you think we can all make a difference?

Yes – it's the little steps that make a difference. If everyone switched the light off when leaving the room, or switched the TV off if no-one's watching, it would become a habit, not a drag.

If the big floods came, what would you save – apart from your family?

A good knife – I'd need to kill animals and fish and build some kind of shelter. A knife would be essential.
