Programme 4 - Ports, both far and near
Over the centuries there's been a lot of coming and going at the ports of Wales. The country's mineral wealth - particularly coal and slate - went out through the ports, while goods, influences, plants and individuals came in from all over the world.
In addition to the obvious imports that came from faraway ports, sailors returned home to Wales with mementoes of their travels
The ports were also busy with individuals and families leaving Wales to settle overseas : perhaps the best known emigration from Wales was to Patagonia
Pwllheli marina is now a haven for expensive yachts, but this was where one of Wales' premier yachtsmen learned his trade
