Elin will join forces with team Visit Finland under the command of skipper Olly Osborne. Setting sail from Qingdao in early March 2012 and heading for the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the journey of 5,680 miles will take around 33 days. Less than half the number of days than the other two oceans, despite being more than double the distance - but Elin is in no doubt that it will be equally as challenging, equally as demanding and equally as rewarding!

Visit Finland will be hoping to top their overall second place on their debut outing in Clipper 09-10. Will Clipper 2012 be the one to see them lift the Clipper Trophy?

Welsh farm girl Elin Haf [Davies] has a passion for adventure and extreme challenges.

Having rowed nearly 6000 miles across the extreme Atlantic and Indian Oceans she's certainly experienced the hardship and dangers of life at sea but as a novice sailor who knows how she'll respond to the technicality and pace of life on a racing yacht across the Pacific.

It’s a truly international affair. More than 41 nationalities are represented by the crews of Clipper 2012. They come from countries as far-flung as the USA, Canada, Russia, Serbia, Norway, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Malaysia, China and Singapore, breaking through cultural and language barriers to work together and build lifelong friendships.
Tie every warp, line, sheet and halyard together from the Clipper Race fleet and the ropes will stretch for a massive 13 kilometres – that’s almost twice the height of Mount Everest.
Ocean racing is thirsty work and the mother watches will serve an almost constant stream of hot and cold drinks. The ten teams will slurp their way through 244,000 tea bags while they are at sea.
By the end of the 40,000-mile Clipper 2012 Race, the Clipper fleet will have raced more than 2.6 million miles since the first edition back in 1996. That’s to the moon and back eleven times!
Clipper 2012 is raced by ‘people like you’… more than 230 different professions are represented from nurses to surgeons, pilots to farmers, engineers to accountants and teachers to students and the whole gamut of occupations in between.
Clipper 09-10 was followed by a cumulative global audience of more than half a billion people on TV, radio, in the newspapers and online.
Even before the race has started the crews will have completed a combined total of almost half a million training miles.
During Clipper 2012 the teams will get through something in the region of 14,600 loo rolls, or 365,000 metres of toilet paper. That’s the equivalent distance of flying from London to Paris.
