HSBC Brecon Jazz 2008 - Performers

Burum

Burum

Burum are one of the most exiting bands to emerge from the contemporary jazz scene in Wales.

The band was formed in 2006 when the traditional piper, Ceri Rhys Matthews, joined forces with two brothers Tomos Williams (trumpet) and Daniel Williams (saxophone). The intention was to experiment and create new interpretations of Welsh Folk tunes.

The subsequent album Alawon released in April 2007 was the first time traditional Welsh melodies had been heard in a modern jazz idiom. The album and the band's subsequent live performances have received an excellent reception and there are great expectations of the band's performance at the festival this year.
