The legendary singer songwriter, Joan Armatrading makes her first appearance at the festival this year.
She first came to prominence in the '70s with her hit single Love and Affection. Although her song lyrics have always dealt with powerful themes such as love and obsession, she has always experimented with different musical genres from rock to reggae to folk. These days she is highly regarded as a blues composer and singer and for her remarkable blues guitar playing.
Her latest album, Into the Blues has won rave reviews and debuted at number one on the Billboard Blues Chart in the U.S. The first British female artist ever to earn that distinction.
