Only Men Aloud ring the changes in their second S4C series
Wales' most popular choir, Classical Brit award-winning Only Men Aloud, are back with a new series on S4C this autumn and, like their concerts and albums, it is sure to draw the fans in their thousands.

It's the choir's second S4C series but this one will be quite different to the first which was filmed at the Wales Millennium Centre. This time the choir will perform at locations perfect for the theme of each programme as well as before an audience at the Dragon Studios near Bridgend. The six-part series Only Men Aloud begins on Thursday 29 September. Each programme will feature a particular music genre including film music, songs from the musicals, opera, music by Welsh and American composers and, to mark 70 years since the Swansea Blitz, songs of the Second World War. |
Some of the songs will be included in the choir's third album to be released in time for Christmas. The choral scene in Wales excites Tim Rhys-Evans, music director of Only Men Aloud. He believes it's cool these days to be in a choir. The revival in choral singing in Wales at present is proof of what he says. There is no doubt that the style of Only Men Aloud has transformed the image of choral singing. The 'old-fashioned' label has all but disappeared. |
