Ifor's advice on doing 'Popeth yn Gymraeg' (Everything in Welsh)…
Smile and be friendly!
Be prepared to reply to what's said in English, but do that in Welsh! Don't pretend you don't understand any language other than Welsh.
Be prepared to shake hands with people - it's a good way of showing that you're not trying to belittle them.
Think of words that people are likely to have heardbefore and plant them here and there in the conversation.
Don't turn to English - as convenient as it is! Persistence pays!
You'll need confidence by the bucketload!
Eye contact is important in terms of expressing yourself effectively. Be confident in what you're doing!
Be ready to use gestures to describe what you're trying to say.
Speak clearly, pronouncing each word deliberately, and try and be as succinct as possible...
...But don’t speak patronisingly clearly - don’t raise your voice - it's more likely to make someone angry than help them to understand.
