The research unit is responsible for collating S4C's audience research.
This includes qualitative and quantitative research, research with the schools' panel and marketing research.
Quantitative research includes analysis of S4C's BARB panel, which consists of a panel of 540 homes from around Wales. The qualitative research usually involves regular discussion groups on various subjects, commissioned by S4C. There are 12 schools on S4C's schools' panel every year, and the pupils are usually asked about children's programmes and their viewing habits. Research is regularly carried out on behalf of the marketing unit into S4C's image and the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
