The Department is responsible for organising S4C’s sub-titling service in English and Welsh, with additional services such as signing for the Deaf and audio-description for the Blind provided on S4C Digital.The Department is also responsible for the Analogue Teletext Service - Sbectel.
Most of this work is carried out by specialist outside suppliers who deal directly with the Production Company or with S4C, with the work authorised by the Subtitling Department.The subtitling files are reviewed by a specialist company within S4C, ensuring that the material is suitable for transmission.
