Press Unit
The work of S4C’s Press Office can be broadly split into three areas: programme promotion, promoting the channel’s corporate brand and publicising the work of S4C International.
Programmes
Each week the Press Office prepares the Programme Information Pack which contains 4/5 articles about S4C’s Welsh language programmes along with schedules for both S4C and S4C Digital. The pack is sent to press and media across Wales and beyond. The Press Office also contacts different newspapers directly to ‘sell’ news stories about the channel’s programmes and stars. The Press Office provides information for the EPG system and copy for the ‘Pick of the Day’ slots of various newspapers. The Press Office works closely with the Marketing Unit to prepare advertisements and other promotional material.
Corporate
The Press Office is responsible for promoting S4C’s corporate stories e.g. events, prizes, sponsorship, competitions etc. The Press Office is also responsible for announcing new appointments and for preparing the Annual Report. The S4C Viewers’ Hotline also comes under the Press Office. The Hotline is based in Porthmadog and deals with inquiries from the public on a daily basis.
S4C International
The Press Office is responsible for promoting S4C International’s role and prepares press releases on programme sales, new co-productions and programme sponsorship stories.
