Tairgwaith held its first ever live Television final with S4C’s Welsh Cup won by Granell Shane, named after the legendary Shane Williams, owned and trained by people`s champion, Tudor Jones, Llanymddyfri.

2011 CHAMPIONSHIP RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. From June 1 – August 1 2011 WWHRA will run a series of races during the season which will act as qualification races to a live televised final at Tairgwaith on Wednesday August 10th

2. Series open to horses in grades 2 to 6, and all races at all meetings affiliated to WWHRA or NWSA will be included.

3. Series restricted to owners, trainers and drivers of either WWHRA or NWSA or any other Welsh Standardbred association recognised by BHRC. To qualify members are expected to have joined the afore mentioned organisations on or before June 1 2011

To qualify each entry must satisfy both of the following conditions;

Either Owner or Trainer must be a member of either WWHRA or NWSA or any other Welsh Standardbred association recognised by BHRC, prior to June 1 2011. Drivers;
A Class Drivers must be members of either WWHRA or NWSA or any other Welsh Standardbred association recognised by BHRC, prior to June 1 2011
B/C Class Drivers must be current members of WWHRA or any other afore mentioned Welsh associations

4. Entry fee, Prize Money & the number in each Qualifying races will be at each individual track`s discretion.

5. Track rules will apply, and in all cases the decision of the Chairman of the Stewards at the track will be final.

6. Horses will accumulate points in all the qualifying races as follows;

1st - 5pts, 2nd - 3pts, 3rd - 2pts, 4th - 1pt.

In the event of a horse running twice in a day only the first race will count towards points accumulation.

7. The top 9 points scorers on August 1 2011 will be invited to a live televised final at Tairgwaith on Wednesday August 10th
In the event of a tie in qualifying points accumulated, a draw for final selection will be conducted at Tanycastell Races on August 7
In the event of withdrawals from the final, the next 4 horses outside the top 9 will be nominated reserves, and will be only eligible to run if there is a withdrawal before 6pm the day previous to the Final. If there is a tie in in qualifying points accumulated between nominated reserves, in the case of withdrawals selection will be by ballot.

8. Total Prize Money for the final will be £1000 but in accordance with BHRC Handicapping guidelines prize fund will be allocated as follows;

1st - 70% (£700),
2nd - 15% (£150),
3rd -10% (£100),
4th - 5% (£50)

No entry fee for the Championship Race Final, but eligible horses must be declared by 1200 Wednesday August 3

9. The Championship Race Final will be run as a Free For All, over a distance of one mile with draw for position being made on the night.

10. In all cases the decision of the Chairman of the Stewards at the track will be final.

11. In unforeseen circumstances conditions may be altered.
