End of Season Report 2011

2011 saw Rasus return for a 19th series and it was another memorable season.

Tairgwaith held its first ever live Television final with S4C’s Welsh Cup won by Granell Shane, named after the legendary Shane Williams, owned and trained by people`s champion, Tudor Jones, Llanymddyfri.

We witnessed great racing with the Wales and Border Counties Racing Association once again this year, both at Talgarreg and Caersws, with another first achieved with their first live televised meeting under floodlights also at Tairgwaith.

Unfortunately Saturday`s Welsh Classic at Tregaron fell victim to typical Welsh weather, but we did have a truly fantastic Friday culminating in Patrick Kane Jnr. and Maitha Buachaill, winning the Strata Florida Cup and completing a memorable two days racing for the large Irish invasion.

However highlight of the season was without doubt S4C`s Crock of Gold Final at Tir Prince, the best ever with 4 horses crossing the line together. Laneside Lexus became the first mare to win BHRC`s most coveted prize, and rewarded harness racing`s Posh and Becks Alexis and William “Rocker” Laidler on probably the best night's racing ever seen on Rasus.

Thanks to all clubs and associations from both racing affiliations, BHRC and Wales & Borders, for another memorable season.
