Adventure-loving TV presenter Lowri Morgan has played rugby for Wales, competed in numerous marathons worldwide and completed the illustrious Ironman Challenge. She's even dived down to the remains of Titanic in a submersible - but in a new S4C series, Ras yn Erbyn Amser, she faces her toughest challenge yet.
In the four-part series, Lowri – who presents S4C's rallying series, Ralïo+ – is challenged by pupils at her old school, Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr, to take part in the Jungle Marathon in the Amazon, Brazil. It's the world's toughest endurance event, where participants race over 200km in seven days, self-sufficiently, in a bid to raise awareness of global climate change.
During the first three programmes, broadcast every night, Tuesday - Thursday, 5 - 7 January, we'll follow Lowri through the highs and lows of her intensive 18-month preparations.
The training schedule sees her attempt one of the most difficult Royal Marine assault courses and exercise in an Environmental Chamber at Bath University where she gets a taste of the heat and humidity she'll experience in the Amazon.
As part of her training, she also runs between 30 and 100 miles each week, along the streets of Swansea, the beaches of the Gower peninsula and the Brecon Beacons.
An hour-long edition of Ras yn Erbyn Amser, broadcast on Saturday, 9 January, will follow Lowri to South America. Traditionally, the marathon has a 40% failure rate, so will all her hard work pay off?
