Bellamy left out of Wales squad

Craig Bellamy

Wales captain, Craig Bellamy, has not been included in John Toshack's squad for the friendly match against Sweden in Swansea next week.

It's believed that Toshack wants to keep faith with the youngsters who beat Scotland at Cardiff City Stadium in November.

Bellamy has been blighted by knee injuries over the years and Toshack is thought to want to use Bellamy sparingly in order to keep him fit for the qualifying matches.

From the team who thrashed Scotland 3-0, Joe Ledley, David Edwards, Danny Gabbidon and Joe Allen miss out through injury.

But midfielders, Simon Davies and Jack Collison, as well as defender, James Collins, return to the squad following their injuries.

Davies has not played for Wales since leading out the side to face Germany on 1 April 2009 and Collison returns to the squad for the first time since the friendly international against Montenegro last September.

Andy Dorman of St Mirren is the only uncapped player named in the squad.

Gareth Bale (Tottenham Hotspur), James Collins (Aston Villa), Neal Eardley (Blackpool), Chris Gunter (Nottingham Forest), Craig Morgan (Peterborough United), Lewin Nyatanga (Bristol City), Sam Ricketts (Bolton Wanderers), Ashley Williams (Swansea City)
