Stuart Jones scored the only goal of the game as Llanelli stunned Motherwell in the first leg of their Europa League match.

Despite the Scottish Premier League side enjoying the majority of the possesion and chances, it was the center half who scored the all important goal latching on to an Andy Legg corner after 28 minutes.

Chris Venables, the summer signing from Aberystwyth, was magnificent in midfield as the Reds managed to keep the Motherwell threat at bay.

In the second half, John Sutton and substitue, Paul Slane also went close for the Steelmen but it wasn't until the dying minutes that Llanelli keeper, Ashley Morris, was called upon to make his first real save of the match.

Reds manager, Andy Legg, was understandably delighted with the result.

"All credit to the lads, the performance was magnificent," he told Sgorio after the match.

"They gave 100% tonight - every single one of them."

But whilst some Scottish reporters were already labeling Llanelli favourites to progress, Legg sounded a cautious note.

"I know it's a cliche, but it really is only half time," he added. "We have pulled off one of the best results by a Welsh club in Europe tonight, but the game's not over yet."
