Wolfsburg wary whilst celebrating

Winning the championship for the first time in your history should be an excuse to party, but VfL Wolfsburg are becoming increasingly concerned about what will happen to their club after the last game of the season against Werder Bremen next week.

It will be a time to bid goodbye to their manager, Felix Magath, as he leaves to take the reins at Schalke 04, and who knows how many players will follow him out of the Volkswagen Arena door.

Edin Dzeko and Grafite, who are principaly responsible for Wolfsburg's succesful season with 41 goals, have attracted the attention of many clubs.

No strike partnership has scored as many goals in the Bundesliga since Gerd Müller and Uli Hoeness bagged 53 goals for Bayern Munich in the 1971/72 an 1972/73 seasons.

Dzeko told a Bosnian newspaper: "I wanted to stay, but things are different now" - an obvious reference to Magath's departure.

And whilst midfielder, Zvjezdan Misimovic, has played down newspaper stories suggesting he is on the verge of joining Bayern Munich, he admitted "my heart is red" - a reference to his early playing career with Bayern's amateur side.

Even Grafite, who is 29, has suggested he may well leave the club.

"I will carefully analyse what is best for me and my family," said the Brazilian who has a contract with Wolfsburg until 2011.

So whilst the fans prepare to celebrate becoming Deutschemeister for the very first time, it's fair to say that Manchester United and Barcelona won't be too worried should they have to visit Lower Saxony in next season's Champions League.
