Calderbrook Lodge
Our earliest bungalow has that feel of a traditional colonial home that is the root of the bungalow form, only Calderbrook Lodge was imported from Sweden not India!Nobody is quite sure when it was first erected, but we know that the local decorators came in to wall-paper back in 1903.
This timber prefab is an absolute gem – with traditional Scandinavian stoves, Gustavian style doors, fretwork panels decorated with hearts and stars, and the atmosphere of a country hunting lodge. Add to this its location in one of the prettiest West Wales villages (Rhydlewis, Ceredigion) and you have a bungalow that can melt even my heart. In fact I fell head over heels for this humble home, and made the owners promise to call me should they ever think of moving on.
