An old church hall, Cardiff Bay

With so many conversion projects to be seen in rural areas it is easy to forget that our towns and cities also have their fair share of redundant structures that can make exciting houses. In contrast to the bland warehouse conversions that have become the staple of Cardiff Bay, Dylan Griffith's remodeling of an old Church hall is a breathtaking piece of contemporary urban design. Despite being in the heart of the Bay, and only yards from a busy road, the house has an amazing sense of peace and calm.

'its my little oasis of calm in the bustle of the city', smiles Dylan 'I'm so pleased that I took the plunge and made my home here.'

Like with all the owners that we see in the programme Dylan can be proud that his house not only provides a viable future for a once redundant structure, but it also makes a valid architectural statement about contemporary design today, as well as being a deeply personal space that reflects both his and the building's character.
