The Medieval 'Wow' Factor
Many of us hanker back to the good old days, and 'Yr Hen Ffordd Cymreig o Fyw', but there are a handful of truly ancient houses left that can show us about what life was like back in medieval times. When I say that they are old I mean it - there isn't a house in the programme that is younger than half a millennium, and I imagine that most of them will still be standing in another five hundred years.

Four of the best-preserved halls in Wales are featured in the programme, all of them to be found in North Wales.

Llys Hynafol Cochwillan
Llys Hynafol Cochwillan near Talybont (Bangor) is breathtakingly beautiful, and is as impressive today as when it was built back in the 1400s.

Ty-Mawr
Ty-Mawr, Nantmor is smaller in scale but a truly rare survivor, being entirely built using the drystone technique.

Ty Draw
No drafts are to be found at Ty Draw, Llanarmon, which is currently being lovingly restored by its architect owner.

Y Faner
But to see one of these impressive ancient roofs up close viewers get to see inside Y Faner, Llanelltyd, where the huge hall was floored over in the 1930s.
