Ty-Mawr

Ty-Mawr, Nantmor is smaller in scale but a truly rare survivor, being entirely built using the drystone technique. It is also one of my favourite buildings – a true candidate for the ultimate Welsh house. People think of drystone walls running across mountains, but people used to build homes this way too. There was even a specialized profession of itinerant workers who used to be employed to pug the gaps in the walls with moss to stop the drafts.
