Yr Apollo – Dolrhyd

Alongside Dolrhyd manor house stands the Apollo, a wonderful pavilion intact with a remarkable Georgian plasterwork ceiling of fantastic quality.

You can see various symbols associated with music and dance and other arts, as well as classical symbols following the fashion of the architect Adam.

William Vaughan was Chief President of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion (Wales’s first modern cultural body). He built this building for its meetings in 1763 with views down to Afon Wnion.

It’s a real hidden gem of Dolgellau.
