Gwysaney Hall

[ VIDEO ]

Originally Gwysaney Hall was built on a H plan, that was, until it started to fall down the hill! The unsafe East Wing was demolished in around 1823 and it was a further forty years before the East Wing was remodelled.

Regardless of the Victorian alterations the house is Jacobean in the main having been built in 1603 but its wonderful front door bears the date 1640 and the initials RAD.

As you walk into the hall you are surrounded by the portraits of the family dating back through the generations. Apparently the Davies-Cooke family can retrace their origins to the royal house of Powys possibly as far back as 1200.
