County town of the historic county of Brycheiniog (Brecknockshire), Brecon was first established as a military base of the Romans in Wales. On the northern edge of the famous Brecon Beacons National Park, the thriving community welcomes artists and visitors from all over the world every August to the wonderful Brecon Jazz Festival.
