The race has begun

This new documentary series will track the hopes of a group of young Welsh people over a period of 3 years as they battle for a place in the Olympic Games in London 2012.

London 2012 - Three Years to Go

It's full speed ahead for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Monday 27 July 2009 marked 'Three Years to Go' to the Opening Ceremony in 2012 with events which took place all over London to celebrate. The most significant of which was the first time trial of the new Javelin train, the 140mph high-speed line that will take up to 25,000 visitors per hour to and from St Pancras, central London to Stratford International Station during the Games. The train, which held organizers, athletes and media, took just 6 minutes and 45 seconds to reach its destination, even faster than the expected 7 minutes.

Amongst the athletes and media travelling on the train were Olympics Minister, Tessa Jowell, Sebastian Coe, London Mayor Boris Johnson and Guto Harri. There was a great sense of anticipation in the air as VIP's stepped off the train at Stratford and were taken on a special tour of the Olympic and Paralympic Park.

The creation of the site is ahead of schedule with the development of several major venues well underway including the Aquatics Centre, the International Broadcast Centre, the Olympic Stadium, the Velodrome and the Olympic Village, amongst others.

The countdown to 2012 Games has truly begun and the athletes of Wales and all over the world are one step closer to their dream.
