Profile

I have always loved the hammer throw, right from the very first time I tried the sport. It's the rhythm of it and I feel at one with the hammer. It's like dancing. In fact, a coach once told me that everybody who throws the hammer can dance!

By now I have established myself as number 1 in Wales, number 2 in Britain and seventh in the Commonwealth. It hasn't come without a lot of hard work, but it's worth it, and whilst there are sacrifices, what I get from athletics makes it all worthwhile.

I enjoy training although I know that not everybody does. But for me, I enjoy the time in the hammer circle, on my own, with my own thoughts. It's quite invigorating.

Ambition

I have already experienced what it's like to compete for Wales at the Commonwealth Games when I competed in Melbourne in 2006. It was an amazing experience and putting on the Welsh vest and competing at such a high level was a dream come true. I'm determined to do it again in a year's time in Delhi.

I narrowly missed out on Beijing by 40cms of the qualification distance - I was gutted, who wouldn't be - but it's made me so determined and I am confident that I will be representing the Rhondda in London 2012.
