Profile

Judo is a sport that requires a lot of discipline - we have to bow to each other, shake hands. It's a craft really, and from it you have to learn a lot of things - pride, confidence, discipline and respect to others - it's all these facets that makes me like it so much.

I started judo when I was 4 years old - and I didn't really give any other sports much of a look in really - judo was the only sport for me.

By now, I'm Wales' No.1 in the under 60kilo category and I am immensely proud of that fact.

I hope that people will use me as something of a role-model. I have achieved a great deal whilst juggling so much other stuff like school and other hobbies - all whilst maintaining the high standards in the judo. It's character building really.

Judo has taught me to be kind to everybody no matter what their background. I genuinely feel that this is one of the most important lessons one can learn. Its lessons like these that makes it impossible for me to imagine my life without judo.

Ambition

I have represented Wales a number of times by now - and nothing gives me greater pleasure than donning the Welsh jacket on. Unfortunately, in the Commonwealth Games 2010 judo won't be a sport that's participating.

Whilst this is an obvious shame, it also acts to provide focus to reach London 2012 and reaching the games would be an achievement!.

I have been a fan of the Olympics since a boy and I know everyone's going to say that. But it's the ethos of the games - the idea of proving your potential - is an ethos I enjoy, and reaching the games would be the pinnacle.
