Profile
Making the decision to be a boxer was a very easy one for me. My granddad was a boxer, my father after him and my brother, so it was something of a family tradition!
I didn’t have the best starts to my career though. I joined a gym in Rhydaman, but my progress wasn’t great. I even considered giving up fighting!
Luckily though, a change of gym helped. I joined Cwmgors ABC and met my coach Ronnie Morri. By now I have won a number of Welsh titles and have established my place on the Welsh team under Tony Williams, and ex-pro Colin Jones.
Boxing for Wales is defintiely a highlight of my career so far. It makes me very, very proud to walk out into the ring wearing the Welsh kit.
Ambition
It has been my ambition, like I think it is for every other boxer, since I started as a young lad to reach the heights of the Olympics. It is the biggest sporting competition in the world, and to box there, would be....well... I can’t think of the words.
Being coached by people like Colin Jones is a real honour – he himself as been to the Olympics – and I’d love to be able to follow in his footsteps.
On a more personal note, I’d love to achieve Olympic glory in the name of my grandad. Every time I step in the ring there is a little bit of me boxing for him.
