Winner of the Folk Song Solo

Twenty one year old Catrin Angharad Roberts comes from the Anglesey village of Llanbedrgoch. She attended Ysgol Gynradd Llanbedrgoch primary school, and Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni comprehensive school and now works as Assistant Development Officer for the Urdd in Môn and Eryri. This is the first time that she has competed for the Bryn Terfel Scholarship.

At the Concert, Catrin will perform a folk song solo, Mil Harddach; a cerdd dant solo, Ble'r aeth y sêr by Gwilym R.Jones, and a song from the musical, Sunset Boulevard, translated into Welsh by Sian Owen of Marianglas.

At the Scholarship Master Classes, Catrin's tutors were Mark Evans and Owain Siôn Williams. In her spare time, Catrin has just taken on the role of conductor of a new young male voice choir. She's also a member of Aelwyd yr Ynys, and enjoys playing rubgy for Caernarfon Women's Rugby Team.
